Meritorious Award: Robert (Bob) Aldinger

Member of Pennsylvania "Sports Hall of Fame"
Robert Aldinger started his career in sports at the age of sixteen when he organized a young baseball team. He
helped organize the 21st Ward Biddy Basketball League and served as Commisioner for twelve years during which
time he helped secure Dobson School's Court, arranged banquets, All-Star Games and Tournaments. He was active
with the Port Royal A.A. as Business Manager, Publicity Director, Public Address Announcer and Booking Officer.
He was Athletic Director of the Roxborough Salvation Army for thirteen years. He was one of the organizers
of the Babe Ruth League Baseball League, which is now the 21st Ward Senior League. He served on the League's
Board of Directors, as well as the Manager of the Salvation Army Team. He was the Commissioner of the
Kendrick Recreation Center Softball League for two years. He was very active at Roxborough High School
where he was chairman of the 1957 Championship Football Team's banquet, organized the retirment party for Joe
Toner, long time baseball coach at the school, and helped organize the Fellowship of Christian Athletics
in this area. During his years of service, Bob has been a positive influence in shaping the lives of many of
our area's young people.
